Electrical Tape on Glass
A freehand tape drawing of the company logo on their storefront windowpane. Executed in in 3 hours including heat treatment to increase longevity of the artwork.
The challenging part of this project was selecting the materials for the logo. Atmosphere’s branding vibe is friendly and soft, but their logo is clean and strong.
Below I’m removing an iteration of the logo made with masking tape where I explored using the translucency of the material to create soft shadowing for the logo.
The final version was made with electrical rubber based tape. This tape yields clean straight black lines of tape. The rubber compound made the tape slightly elastic allowing for the gentle curves in the leaves.
The artist is the creator of beautiful things. To reveal art and conceal the artist is art’s aim. The critic is he who can translate into another manner or a new material his impression of beautiful things.
