Capturing Conversations

This series was developed as part of the Keeping In Touch Project under the aegis of the Honorary Consulate of India, Stuttgart. The series was exhibited at the Stuttgart Meets Mumbai Wine Festival in 2021.

The photographic series was developed with 2 artists Sashawhyy and Jonas Glúck reacting to each other as they photographed and compare objects from their household and surrounding environments. It hoped to find interesting common grounds between daily life in two countries 6,700 km apart. Through this exchange we challenged each other to look at our surroundings differently and began a visual conversation drawing different connections.

Each photo in the series has a pair which lets the photographers talk to each other using imagery found in our environment. When shooting pictures for this series we started out trying to capture moments that communicated a feeling, something we wanted to show out of our everyday lives, homes and surroundings. Something to make the ordinary suddenly jump at you.

“Things that were never intended to be seen as beautiful, […] it seems that it is the process of photographing them which makes their beauty apparent.”
